Today I found out that one of my former undergraduate researchers has matriculated. Congratulations are in order as Lucas Livingstone graduates OU with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. According to his LinkedIn post, Lucas has taken a position at Devon Energy as a rotational engineer. He will spend the next few years getting acquainted with the company and finding his future home with them.
Lucas worked with me as a freshman as part of the First Year Research Experience (FYRE) program researching wind flow and sensing. He was my first FYRE student. I was so impressed with his abilities, I encouraged him to continue work with me on the NASA GeoCarb project. He went on to work with some data we collected with his future employer, getting his foot in the door. I am absolutely thrilled to see that things have gone so well for him since he wrapped up his project with me.
